Barkpelt stood up and looked around. The words of the ceremony a few nights ago still ringing in her ears. She had been named mentor to Darkpaw. It was a great honor in her mind to have an apprentice so soon after getting her warrior name, but she was determined to make her clan proud. It was a special honor to her to be training Darkpaw, who had found a special place in the hearts of the clan. She had been showing him around Thunderclan territory, and some of the most basic moved, and was going to test him to see where she needed to work next. He seemed to be learning quickly, but she wanted to be sure he understood and remembered what was important before moving on to anything harder. Darkpaw! She called, seeking him out in the camp. Many cats were out, cats of all ages, enjoying the peace and good weather they had been having lately.

Darkpaw, Thunderclan ApprenticeDarkpaw was chasing through the forest in his usual way. He leaped from tree to tree as he spotted a squirrel. He leaped out and knocked it to the ground. That was when Darpaw awoke to the moss of his nest. he heard a cat say his name from out side and shot bolt up right in his nest. He unsheathed his claws when he remembered he was a clan cat. He quickly sheathed them and ran to the den entrance and burst out into the light. He blinked to try and adjust to the light. When he had adjusted he looked around to see his mentor. waiting for him. He rushed to her side. "Yes Barkpelt?" he asked. He was ready to race into the forest with his mentor but he kept his peace and waited for what his mentor would say.

Barkpelt hid a smile as her apprentice came darting out of his den. He had clearly been asleep, and her call must have woken him. Even so he looked awake and ready for anything. Though she was not sure if he was ready for a test. What have you learned? she asked, giving no further explanation. She wanted to see how he responded today, it was all part of her test to see how far he had come, and she planned to try to keep him on his toes.

Darkpaw, Thunderclan Apprentice
Darkpaw had only been an apprentice for about 3 days. Darkpaw hadn't leanred much but he had learned some minor things about his new home. He had even been taught the hunters crouch and one battle move. With a smile Darkpaw stepped back a few pawsteps. His tail lashed from side to side as he began. "I have learned that Riverclan's border is along ours. Shadowclans border with us is carved by a Thunderpath. Mosters live and hunt on the Thunderpath but rarely leave it. Two'legs are in them but not eaten. Along with knowledge of Thunderclan territory I have been taught how to do a hunters crouch correctly." With that said Darkpaw opulled his lwegs underneath himself a\. His tail hovered just above the ground. "I have also leanred a battle move." With that said Darkpaw pounced and landed next to his mentor and cuffed her ear then leaped away to dodge any counter attacks. OOC: sorry if I god modded on this post.

OOC: It's fine. I don't see anything wrong with your post. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I thought I did, and forgot to check.
Barkpelt smiled as Darkpaw spoke. Although he had a 'know-it-all' tone, he had learned all that in the last few days. He was doing well, but still had much to learn. Very good! So, is there anything you would like to work on today? she asked, still thinking of what she would have him do. She wanted to see how well he payed attention, and thought on his paws, but she also knew that he was just a few days away from being a kit, and still had that excited energy making him loose focus easily. She then thought about what they had done the last few days, and started to get an idea. It would be a real challenge for him, but it would be a good test. She watched him a moment, waiting to see what he had planned for the day.

Darkpaw, Thunderclan ApprenticeDarkpaw nodded at his mentors praise. when the question was asked he had to think about it. "Barkpelt if we could I would like to work on my pounce. I still land slightly off from my target. Perhaps after that we might go hunt or practice some more battle moves. Or you could show me Snake rocks since we didn't get very close during my tore of the territory." Darkpaw said calmly. He felt odd, he wasn't used to telling others what he would like to do. He usually went off and did it or was told what he would be doing.

Barkpelt Thunderclan Warrior
Barkpelt nodded as Darkpaw spoke. She didn't think he was ready for Snake Rocks yet, but the rest went along nicely with her original plan. She licked her chest fur a moment, then looked around for s good place to practice. She found a round, smooth patch, that had a small stick in the center. OK, see that stick. That's your prey. she said, pointing with her paw as she spoke. She had the itch to hunt, but knew she should wait for Darkpaw to get a little more practice, lest he scare off all the prey. She sat down where she was to watch. She would show him if he wanted, but since she had already showed him this move before, she would give him the chance to try first.

Darkpaw, Thunderclan ApprenticeDarkpaw watched his mentor waiting for what she had to say.
OK, see that stick. That's your prey.
That wasn't what he had expected to hear. Although he understood why she wanted Him to practice. He was the hunter before Dovepaw and himself joined the clan. He was rarely able to catch enough for both of them at that time and so he practiced his pouncing as much as possible. Darkpaw looked at the stick and nodded as he turned his body to face it. His tail lowered till it gently hovered above the ground. He pulled his legs under him and gently placed his paws forward. He slowly crept closer to the stick careful not to stir any stray leaf or twig. When he was a few tail lengths away he shook his hand quarters and pushed off the ground in a burst of speed. He had been concentrating on a knot in the branch and he hit the knot but not exactly on top of it.He landed on what would be a kill but it would also frighten any prey near by as his other paw landed on the ground. "See, What am I doing wrong Barkpelt?" He said as he sat his tail wrapped over his black paws.

OOC: Oops, I'm really sorry I just got your message about this.
Barkpelt watched carefully as Darkpaw got into position and prepared to leap. Then at the last moment she noticed it. He had all his weight in the wrong place. Tsk Tsk, toms. she mumbled to herself quietly. He needed to learn that he was bigger than Dovepaw, and what worked for her, would not work for him. Your to heavy! she giggled, teasing the young tom. You have to learn to not land so much on your paws. You need to use your tail in the air to help you land softer. she chided. She motioned for him to watch, and she repeated him earlier moved. But just before she jumped, she looked at him. Like this. she said. She jumped, then moved her tail, shifting her weight away from her front paws, then toward them to keep from sliding. She landed perfect, but all of a sudden the ground gave way beneath her paws and she started sliding backwards! She clawed at the ground, unsure what was happening. Then just as suddenly, she stopped. Her hind paws, and from her waist down were completely buried in loose dirt. Her hind paws touched something hard and rough, tree roots? She tried to pull herself back up, but the move she moved, the more dirt fell in around her, packing in with every shift. I'm stuck! Go get help. She called to Darkpaw, trying to keep her voice level to avoid scaring him any more.
